1. What housing options are there in the city of Nyíregyháza?
Currently, the majority of our students reside in Hotel Sandra, conveniently situated approximately 10 minutes away from Nyíregyháza Airport. The hotel rooms are furnished with a mini kitchen and a private bathroom. Students share the rooms in pairs. For up-to-date pricing information, please feel free to contact us. For individuals visiting Nyíregyháza for a few days, specifically for UPRT (Upset Prevention and Recovery Training) or any other purpose, we offer the convenience of pre-arranged accommodation options right at the airport.
2. How should you imagine the entrance exam, how can you prepare for it?
The entrance exam for any program applicant begins with a computer-based written test, which usually takes 3-4 hours, in addition to which you have to prepare for a motivational interview. There is currently no practice interface available for the TestAir360 computer test, but in the 2 weeks before the exam, 4 online opportunities are provided to familiarize yourself with the test and practice. The test consists of 15 modules and assesses basic skills that are essential for a future pilot, including mathematics, physics, and English modules.
3. When must the Class 1 medical certificate be obtained?
In the case of BSc university students, the latest is in June of the year of application, but it is advisable to register already in January-February of the year of application so that all examinations can be completed on time.
The first examination is currently conducted in one place in Hungary (Debrecen). A renewal examination is mandatory every year after the start of the training. During the training, it is necessary to have a Class 1 medical certificate at all times.
Postgraduate university students are advised to register at a medical center in November before starting in February.
In the case of Wizz Air Pilot Academy students, it is mandatory to have a first-class medical license before signing the contract, without which the applicant does not meet the required criteria to start the integrated training. We can only accept an EASA First Class medical certificate for your application.
4. Is there a shuttle between the airport and the city/accommodation?
There is no such possibility, as the airport is approx. located 4km away and is easily accessible by car, bicycle and on foot.
5. From which countries can you apply for the Wizz Air Pilot Academy training?
The Wizz Air Pilot Academy Program welcomes applications from individuals who have reached the age of 18 and hold citizenship or permanent residency in any EU or other country with a Wizz Air base, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Georgia, Hungary, North Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, and Serbia.
6. Is it possible to have insurance during the training?
Yes, many European companies offer different options, tailored to the individual (e.g. the French SAAM Verspieren Group). Students must manage it individually.
How can I pay?
On weekends, we only accept cash on-site, but on weekdays, you can also pay by bank card. Additionally, we offer the option of payment through our online webshop.
Can I purchase a gift voucher?
Yes, of course, you have the option to purchase a gift voucher in person at Nyíregyháza Airport or online through our webshop!
How long is the voucher valid?
The vouchers can be used for 6-12 months from the date of purchase.
Can more than three people participate in a flight at once?
Unfortunately, no. Our aircraft are four-seaters, including the pilot’s seat.
Is wearing a mask mandatory during the flight?
No, wearing a mask is not mandatory.
Do I need a vaccination certificate to be able to fly?
No, a vaccination certificate is not required.
What to do if a flight is canceled due to bad weather?
We will arrange a new appointment on the next working day.
Can a 2-year-old child come for a flight?
If the child can be securely fastened without a booster seat or other assistive device, they can participate in the flight.
Can an infant sit on my lap during the flight?
For safety reasons, unfortunately, this is not possible.
Is it allowed to take photos during the flight?
Certainly, you are free to take photos and videos during the flight.
How long in advance can I cancel the border opening?
You can cancel the border opening up to 3 hours before the scheduled time.
If I will be late compared to the given appointment time, what should I do?
It is possible to modify the appointment time, up to 3 hours before the originally scheduled time.
If we arrive with multiple aircraft, will the border opening be more expensive?
No, the number of aircraft does not affect the cost of the border opening.
Is it possible to request a border opening outside of opening hours?
Yes, but additional costs for extended opening hours may apply.
